Man remanded in prison for stealing ponmo worth N8,500

A man whose name was given as Abdulwahab Yusuf, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Sharia Court sitting in Kano for allegedly stealing cow skin, popularly known as ponmo worth N8,500.
Yusuf, a 23-year-old man, who lives in the Tukuntawa Quarters area of the state, was charged with theft.
The Judge, Umar Lawal-Abubakar, ordered that the defendant, who pleaded guilty be remanded in a correctional centre.

Lawal-Abubakar adjourned the matter until August 22 for summary trial.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Fatihu Auwal, also resides in Tukuntawa Quarters, reported the matter at the Fagge Police Station, Kano, on August 5.
Wada reported that the defendant entered into the complainant’s stand and stole the cow skin.
