Court orders DSS to release bizman detained for alleged link with IPOB

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Department of the State Service (DSS) to release a Jalingo-based businessman, Ntari Danladi, who has been detained for six months.
The business man was said to have been detained by the DSS over alleged link with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
Justice Chikere in his ruling on a motion filed by Pius Danba Pius on behalf of the detainee, gave the order for his immediate release.
The judge, in an enrolled order of the court obtained on Thursday, held that the order to detain Danladi was made on June 24 2021 and had expired after 90 days.
The court held that “since the 90 days detention order expired on September 22, 2021, there has been no application by the Department of State Services for renewal of the detention order.”
The judge said, “That the order of detention, having expired and there being no renewal, the first respondent/applicant is to be released from custody of the Department of State Services immediately.”
