Police rescue abducted girl, arrest suspect in Delta State

Operatives of the  Delta  Police   Command, Oghara   Division,  Delta  State,  have rescued a kidnapped girl who was on a  night journey en route to Lagos with her truck driver boyfriend. The truck driver reportedly bolted into the bush abandoning his girlfriend,  Sefinat Mohammed, when a  gang of three suspected kidnappers swooped on them along Koko junction, Oghara,  Ethiope  West  Local   Government   Area of the state.

The two lovebirds were headed for Lagos on board a   Futon   Truck with   Reg   No.  FST  345  YD  at about 11:30 p.m on  October  4, when they were ambushed and the   27-year-old   lady kidnapped. While in the bush,  the truck driver,  whose identity was not disclosed, made a distress call to the police who in turn went after the hoodlums and located their hideout along  Pan Ocean road by  Koko junction.

The  Police  Public  Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, in a statement, said the gang members, on sighting the police team, fled and abandoned the kidnapped victim. According to him,  one of the suspects,  Emuesiri  Umukoro,  who is  27 years old, was arrested, while a  manhunt for other fleeing suspects is ongoing.
