Police rescue abducted cop, plan manhunt for kidnappers

The Kwara State Police Command has said it rescued a policeman, a member of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Team attached to the Kwara State Police Command, was reportedly rescued in a bush at the Kwara and Oyo states border around 2.30am on Sunday.

The policeman, ASP Ahmed Yusuf, who was abducted in his house in the Oloje area of Ilorin on Tuesday around 10pm by six armed hoodlums. According to reports, he was returning from work and was about to enter his house when the hoodlums accosted and took him away.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Paul Odama, who confirmed the abduction, later paid a visit to the house of the cop. He said the command had stepped up investigation to apprehend the perpetrators. The state police spokesperson, in a statement, said, “The ASP is currently undergoing medical examination and will be allowed to join his family as soon as he is confirmed fit by the police medical doctor.”
