Osun court awards N6m compensation against police over illegal invasion
An High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, on Wednesday, ordered the Police to pay a sum of N6 million to two applicant over illegal invasion of their residence. The two applicants, Yusuf Adepoju and Muddathir Kewudirorun, had dragged the police to court in a suit number HOS/M. 157/2021, alleging that officers invaded their private residence without prior notice.

They said there was no prior invitation until the police invaded the residence at about 3:00am on November 16, 2021, for reasons not known to them. In his judgement, Justice Oyebiyi, held that infringing on fundamental rights of innocent civilians was against the 1999 Constitution.
He added that the applicants’ privacy was threatened by the police during the incident and awarded the amount as compensation against them.
