Team Nigeria sunbeams brighter as two of her athletes – Segun Toriola and Funke entered into history book (Club 7) as they displayed rare skills and to have competed seven times at Olympics.

Club 7 is an International Table Tennis Federation sphere where only seven times olympics players are recognized.

Funke Oshonaike becomes the first Nigerian and the first African woman in the world to have competed at seven Olympics Games and of course topping the exclusive club inclusion, mostly dominated by men.

The table tennis star induction yesterday sponged out her tears underwent on the green table in her first historic Games when she was totally beaten by a Chinese-American.

She received the honour with brighten face along other five men who had brought honour to their countries as well.

Out of the six awardees, Team Nigeria stood elegantly with a male and a female, an achievement only Nigeria has recorded.

After receiving the honour, Funke said; “I hope this award for me and country will brighten the hearts of Nigerians. I am happy and thanks to Nigeria and this hardworking Sports Minister Sunday Dare”.

Segun Toriola, the second receiver of the esteem honour also thanked Nigeria for the great opportunities and support all along.
