Lagos, FCT, 11 others report 163 new COVID-19 cases, six deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday reported 163 new COVID-19 cases across 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory.   

Six COVID-19 related deaths were recorded by the agency. 

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Wednesday.   

According to data from the agency, Lagos recorded the highest figures for new infections for the day with 59 cases.   

The FCT reported 33 cases of the virus followed by Delta with 16 cases, Kaduna with 13 cases, Gombe with 12 cases, Osun with 12 cases, Ogun with 4 cases, Ekiti with 3 cases, Oyo with 3 cases, Rivers with 3 cases,Borno with 2, Imo with 2, Nasarawa with 1 cases.

The reported 163 new infections have brought the total number of confirmed cases to 251,341 while 224,939 people have recovered and have been discharged.   

However, with six additional COVID-19 related deaths recorded for the day, the death toll from the virus now stands at 3,116. 

The agency added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
