The National Centre For Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR) said the Federal Government was working on a national policy to develop the start-up ecosystem for an improved national economy.

National Director, NCAIR, Yau Garba, made the disclosure at the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon For Sustainable Development Goals (AIHACKFORSDG), organised by Seedbuilders Innovation Hub (SIH) in Abuja.

He said the policy was designed to reposition the nation’s start-ups to become major contributors to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Garba, represented by the agency’s staffer, Babaginda Gilo, assured the organisation would take Hackathon’s solutions as part of the national policy.

“We are interested in what is happening today. Part of what we do is to develop the start-up ecosystem. Solutions proffered from this competition would be useful to the country. ”

Co-Founder of SIH, Olaoluwa Olorunisomo, expressed confidence that the solutions from the Hackathon challenge would be incorporated by the government.

“In whatever we do, we make sure we bring in the government. We had a tech week and both National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and NCAIR were part of it. We want them to implement these solutions as a way out of the challenges facing our nation.
