D’Tigress
The Nigerian national women basketball team lost to the United States team on Sunday, during an international friendly match at Las Vegas.
The Nigeria’s D’Tigress could not stand tall at the blown of final whistle as they lost 62-93 to the American team.
The game is arranged to prepare both sides for the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo. However, D’Tigress was overpowered.
The American team recorded a total-overall shot of 53.8 percent while the Nigerian sides hit a total of 30.6 percent overall shot.
The American also outscored Nigeria in all four quarters of the game, though only by one point in the third quarter.
The top performers for the US were A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart who led with 16 points and 10 rebounds and 14 points and six assists, respectively.
For D’Tigress, Atonye Nyingifa – nine points; Atlanta Dream’s center Elizabeth Williams played 29 minutes, scored four points.
In the game, no Nigerian player scored in double figures.
Both teams are slated to meet again in the group stage of the Olympics in Tokyo on July 27 to prove points.
