Alleged sexual assault: Court adjourns Baba Ijesha’s trial

The Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in the Ikeja on Monday adjourned till Tuesday, July 27, 2021, the alleged case of child molestation against beleaguered Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha.
The judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo adjourned the case till Tuesday, July 27 after the counsel for comedienne, Adekola Adekanya, popularly known as Princess, played primary evidence against the accused. The primary evidence showed the accused allegedly molesting a 14-year-old minor in the care of the Princess.
According to Princess, she met the accused in 2008 at an event and the two decided to start making comedy skits together. The comedienne also claimed Ijesha wooed her in the process of their work relationship but she rejected his proposal. Princess said she got close to the actor afterward, especially after her marriage crashed around 2013.
Baba Ijesha did not respond to the primary evidence when the case was adjourned and is slated to resume tomorrow. The actor is been charged on six counts of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault, which contravene sections 259, 135, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011, as well as 135, 263, and 262 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
