23 die as disease hits 13 LGs in Sokoto
The Government of Sokoto State has confirmed the outbreak of gastro-enteritis in 13 local government areas in the state in the last few weeks.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammed Inname, said these in Sokoto, on Tuesday.
According to the Commissioner, the affected local government area are Rabah, Wurno, Dange Shuni, Kebbe, Gwadabwa, Tangaza, Isa, Bodinga, Wamakko, Silame, Illela, Sabon Birni and Yabo.
Inname connectedย the recent escalation to the raining season, he said, โThe State Ministry of Health has set up two different teams to monitor and advise members of the public on the dangers of the disease.
โWe have case management team, where doctors will be going round with health workers as well as environmental response team that are to go round and educate those in the rural areas on how to engage and treat their water.โ He added.
