…Affirms Anambra Is Rising

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly built Government House and Lodge, built by Governor Soludo, which comprises the Governor’s residence, the Deputy Governor’s lodge, the Governor’s Office, 24 other structures which include a world-class amphitheatre and auditorium, and the sprawling Solution Fun City in Awka, designed for recreational activities of the people and an eight lane road named after Emeka Anyaoku the firmer commonwealth secretary General and an Indegenes of the state.
Achievements of the Soludo’s administration are also evident in the numerous road constructions connecting various communities and flyovers in Anambra, the building of new general hospitals with telemedicine equipment and skilled healthcare personnel, the construction of smart schools with free education and employment of over 8,200 teachers, and the digitilisation of the state’s judicial system.
Others include towns’ regeneration and cities with modern drainage systems to ease flooding and erosion, providing pipe-borne water to communities across Anambra, effective security operations such as the state’s security system, Agunaechemba, and Operation Udo Ga-Achi, which has restored peace to the state, and youth empowerment schemes.
The commissioning was part of a glamorous event well attended by top personalities in the state, including members of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Governors from the Eastern States, Edo, and Ogun, Borno, Yobe, Ministers, Senators, the Business community, Traditional Rulers, and the various Political and Traditional Groups in the state. The Thursday, 8th May 2025, event at the Soludo renovated Alex Ekweme Square in Awka, the state capital, illustrates Soludo’s popularity in the state.
President Tinubu, who was jointly conferred with the chieftaincy title of ‘Dike Simba’ by all Anambra traditional rulers for his developmental policies towards the state and the Southeast region, especially the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), with an indigene as the pioneer Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, as well as other federal appointments, and projects in Anambra, commended Governor Soludo for his visionary leadership and achievements with a short period.
President Tinubu commends Governor Soludo and states that what he has seen in the state shows that “Anambra is rising” under Soludo. The numerous projects already completed will trigger the Dubai-Taiwan Silicon Valley dream, transforming the state into an industrial and economic hub.
The initiative signposts Governor Soludo’s infrastructure development, a cornerstone of his administration’s agenda. It stems from a broader vision to build a network of quality roads connecting every part of Anambra and securing a better tomorrow for the citizens.
According to President Tinubu, the governor’s transformation of vital sectors of the state’s economy demonstrates his intellectual excellence, which was evident in him during the banking consolidation era as the erstwhile Governor of the country’s central bank.
He asserted that when people thought Soludo’s consolidation plan would be futile, he delivered to the admiration of the government, business owners, and the citizenry, as articulated in a book written to his credit titled” The Power of One Man.”
Overwhelmed with the receptiveness of the Soludo’s cabinets and the people of Anambra, and the chieftaincy title, with the reminiscences of the first title bestowed on him in 2005, President Tinubu said, “This is not only historic, but it is what I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am now a bona fide son of the soil.” Adding lightheartedly, “I will request a plot of land to build my retirement home here.”
In his powerful speech, Governor Soludo thanked President Tinubu for his love for the state. He appreciated the president for appointing “Ndi Anambra “ like the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, and the MD/CEO of the South East Development Commission, Mark Okoye. He added that the mutual relationship between the Tinubu-led federal government and Anambra State will lead to stronger ties. He assured the president that APGA’s progressive credential aligns with the “Renew Hope Agenda” of Tinubu’s administration.
