Police arrests man who strangled student writing exams in Ondo

There is tension in Arogbo community in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State following alleged killing a teenager, Timibra Meretighan, by a man identified simply as Oke Loya, allegedly

According to report, the 17-year-old pupil and his colleagues were writing an examination in a classroom at the Ijaw National High School, in the Arogbo area of the state last Monday when the suspect invaded the premises and started chasing the pupils out of the classroom.

Meanwhile the Ondo State Police Command, on Thursday, confirmed the arrest of the man while a resident familiar with the matter revealed that as the pupils were being chased out of the classroom, the suspect allegedly strangulated the 17-year-old pupil.

“After the incident, the principal of the school quickly rushed to the police station to report the matter,” the source said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, and explained that an investigation had commenced.

Odunlami said, “On Monday, the Principal of Ijaw National High School, came to the station and reported that one Oke Loya, 27, who took shed at the school security gate during the rain, strangulated one Meretighan Timibra, 17, of Arogbo Ibe. The suspect claimed the students called him a madman; he has been arrested and detained.”
