Among those killed, only a total of 16 bodies were discovered at the morgue while a family of 16 burnt to death in their home in Plateau.
The councilor for the AWOL ward, Yusuf Ali, had said that more than 20 people were burnt alive in affected area.
According to the councilor, the gunmen had destroyed the bridge that linked the community before attacking.
He said “While the attack was going on, the chairman of the local government called the security agents to mobilize to the area, but it was discovered that the gunmen had destroyed the iron bridge linking the community.
“They destroyed the bridge probably to prevent security agents from having access to the community so that they could execute their evil agenda unhindered and that was exactly what happened. We are in pain because our people have been cheated.”
Recall that on August 15, 22 travelers had gone back to Bauchi State for an Islamic programme and were on their way back to Ondo State when they were attacked and killed as their vehicle ran into a group of irate youths on Gada -Biyu – Rukuba road in Jos.
The reoccurring incidents led a group of angry youths to protest at some hospitals where the corpses were deposited. Eyewitnesses say they evacuated the bodies into vans and later proceeded to the state’s house of assembly.
The irritated youths were blocked from entering the complex by security agents but still they proceeded to dump the bodies at the front of the complex.
One of the youths protesting said he took five of the corpses to the Government House gate and that the youths were not happy with the government’s handling of the security situation in the state.
Abok, The Speaker said: “We are all affected by what is happening in Plateau State. But please, calm down as government is doing everything possible to end the killings.
“We are your representatives. We are going to follow up with relevant authorities to ensure that peace returns to the state.”
