MEET DARLINGTON, NIGERIA’S FAST RISING AFRO-POP SENSATION

Darlington Ayomide Omoikhefe popular known as Darlington is a 24-year-old fast rising Afro-pop artist who is currently making waves in the Nigerian music industry.

Darlington started writing at the age 14 but got into music in 2014, his first official single “BIA” was released in July 2020 which gave him spotlight in the Nigerian music industry.

In an interview with Earthnews, he spotted out the difficulties, plight and predicaments of upcoming artists in the music industry.

He said “The cost of projecting and promoting in the Nigerian music industry is highly exorbitant.” He further highlighted the rate of exploitation in the music industry, he said “most upcoming artiste are lured into exploiting contracts, and I feel it should be checked.”

He also talked about how his music has gained recognition and acceptance in Europe and other African countries such as Tanzania, Ghana, ivory coast and so on. He said “ I am surprised my music has traveled so far, I have people messaging me from the United Kingdom, Tanzania, the United State and other African countries; singing and dancing to my music. It gives me so much joy”.

He gave an insight on his upcoming EP project which will be unveiled before December , he said “It should be out before December, I am in a serious discussion with my management; I am currently signed to Lamborghini Music Empire. I will love to work with other top artists such as Oxlade, Buju, Ladipoe and others, so I am taking my time to give my fans the best.”
