Lagos State and 17 other states including the Federal Capital Territory reported 727 new cases of COVID-19 and seven COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday, according to figures released on Friday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Friday.
According to the agency, 727 new cases were recorded from Lagos and 17 other states including the FCT.
Rivers recorded the highest number of new infections with 257 cases overtaking Lagos with 157 new cases, Edo with 85 new cases, Imo with 63 new cases, FCT with 33 new cases, Delta with 28 new cases, Kaduna with 27 new cases, Benue with 17 new cases, Akwa Ibom with 13 new cases, Ekiti with 13 new cases, Taraba with 12 new cases, Bayelsa with 5 new cases, Kano and Ogun with 4 new cases, Oyo with 3 new cases, while Abia, Nasarawa, and Plateau reported 2 cases each.
The NCDC said the 727 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 197,773.
However, 185,597 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
The agency further added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
