I’ll make Ogun safest state in Nigeria- new CP

The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Bankole on Thursday, vowed to make Ogun “the safest state in Nigeria.”

The new commissioner who officially assumed office at the State Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, said he has a vision to make Ogun one of the safest states in Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists, Bankole promised to tackle the incessant robbery cases in Ijebu – Ode that  forced bankers to close operations in the area.

Bankole said “We have a vision and that vision is to make Ogun, the safest or at least, the safest state in the country in terms of security. We will also tackle peculiar crisis in Ijebu axis and where there is grey areas, we will make sure that those grey areas are cleared up to make sure life returns to normalcy in Ijebu-Ode.

Speaking on community policing and intelligence gathering, the new CP called on the public to partner with the security agencies towards ensuring safety of lives and property.

Bankole is a graduate of English language from the University of Lagos who hails from Lagos Island local Government area of Lagos State, He joined the Nigeria police as a cadet assistant superintendent of police in March 1990, and has worked in various capacity in different parts of the country such as Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi Port Authority as well as Ogun State Police Commands. The new CP is replacing Edward Ajogun who retired last Friday upon clocking 60 years of age.
