As Anambra prepares for the November 8th gubernatorial election, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Wednesday, held an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) rally in Isuofia, his hometown, where he received a massive turnout of people, who promised to work for his re-election.
The governor’s support stems from his remarkable achievements and incredible performance in governance, and transformational drive in making Anambra a destination where people can invest, live, relax, and enjoy.
Governor Soludo has redefined the story through five pillars, which include security, infrastructure and economic transformation, human capital and social agenda, governance and values, and environmental sustainability, which have impacted the everyday lives of the people.
In light of this, the governor stated that he ran on a 50-year development plan that extends to 2070, which gave rise to the ‘Soludo Solution People’s Manifesto for A Greater Anambra’ where his infrastructural advancement agenda is clearly defined, and which necessitated the transformation in the state.
“I can reel out what we have done, and it is the people who can score us. If by what we see on the streets, markets, and across the state, and historically by the new revolution in Anambra today, people taking over my campaigns, funding, and doing everything by themselves for us, is a testimony,” Governor Soludo asserted.
His administration has achieved significant progress in security and law and order, by reducing crime rates and making the state a peaceful place where people can now walk freely in party uniforms—an improvement from the situation before his assumption of office.
The governor’s Homeland Security Law, which birthed the state security system, ‘Agunechemba,’ to complement the existing security agencies, and the formation of the ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi’ force (Meaning Peace Shall Reign), has curtailed criminality in Anambra.
He cited the case of Ihiala, which was liberated from criminal and other seven Local Government Areas that were under siege, but now free from terror attacks, as 60 criminal camps were eliminated from these areas. “Now, people in these areas can sleep with their eyes closed,” Governor Soludo stated.
The governor stated that three new industrial cities, the new Awka, the greater Niger, and the mixed industrial city, are in the making, and thousands of jobs with the improvement in security in the state. This is coupled with an avalanche of road construction, building bridges, flyovers, and drainage systems in several communities across the state.
He said five new water schemes and 95 semi-water schemes are being constructed for the people, with a new electricity regulatory commission for electricity provision, new housing estates, and the new Silicon Valley, which is constructed on the old government house.
On youth empowerment, Soludo said the One-Youth-Two-Skills has empowered over 30,000 youths, with thousands of them as new millionaires.
In human capital and social agenda, Governor Soludo explained that it is linked to the Dubai Taiwan plan that is hinged on quality education for children in Anambra, with a social agenda christened “from the womb to productive adulthood, ’with free education from kindergarten to primary and secondary school. Our public education was abandoned for over three decades; now, they are back with 8,115 new teachers being employed and schools transformed into smart schools, and winning awards nationally, such as the overall public school in Nigeria,” he stated.
Governor Soludo’s transformation drive is also evident in the health sector, by building five new general hospitals, upgrading others, hiring new doctors and nurses, and granting free antenatal services to women; and in the area of economic growth by attracting investments, industrialisation, agriculture, and empowering youths through digital training for human capital development, among others.
