Google Quietly Introduces Annual YouTube & Music Premium Subscriptions

If you currently subscribe to either YouTube Premium or Music Premium, there’s now an option to sign-up for a year rather than month-to-month. New subscribers can also enjoy a big discount if they act quickly.

As 9To5Google reports, Google has quietly introduced annual subscription options for its video and music streaming services. YouTube Premium costs $143.88 per year, while Music Premium is $119. However, if you classify as a new subscriber, it’s possible to get the first year of YouTube Premium for $107.99, saving you $35.89. For Music Premium the first year is $89.99, saving you $29.89.

The discounted pricing elapsed on Jan. 23, and the renewal process at the end of the first year is handled manually. In other words, you’ll pay the full price for that second year unless Google decides to be generous and make you an offer to encourage the subscription to continue.

With an active premium subscription, YouTube offers ad-free videos, the ability to download videos to watch offline, and you can play videos in the background on mobile devices. With the premium Music subscription, Google also offers an ad-free experience, the ability to download music for offline listening, and background playback. It also advertises an “improved YouTube Music app.”

To sign up for YouTube Premium, simply visit the Premium web page and click the “Or save money with an annual, family or student membership” link below the button that says “Try It For Free” to reveal the $107.99 discounted price. Click the same link in the same location on the Music Premium web page to reveal the $89.99 discounted price.
