Nigeria’s D’Tigers have suffer a fresh defeat in the fourth quarter of their second game at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
D’Tigers lost 92-99 to the Germany’s national basketball team in the early hour of Wednesday.
Hoping to relief the second-rate loss to Australia, D’Tigers secured the first basket via Miami Heat Point guard Gabe Vincent and accumulated most of their points via three pointers, an improvement from the performance in their first game.
On the other hand, Germany have suffered a first match loss to France national team. Thus, both teams were in for a retainer-spot, making it an end-to-end game.
However, Germany have proved that they deserve to advance with a win on Wednesday against Nigeria, who have a talented roster themselves.
The points were tied at half-time (50-50) and at the end of the third quarter (74-74) making it a frantic fourth quarter where Germany took the game beyond Nigeria.
At some point in the game, Nigeria led with as much as twelve points but didn’t do enough defensively, giving away fouls the Germans easily converted from the free throw line.
Miye Oni and Jordan Nwora led the scoring line for Nigeria with their three pointers gathering 15 and 33 points respectively.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers will play next against Italy on Saturday as their chances of qualifying for the next round now hangs in the balance of winning the slated match.
