Benue Catechist caught with lover’s corpse goes into hiding

A Catechist of St. Martins Parish, Mbape in Adikpo deanery, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State who was seen with the corpse of unidentified lady suspected to be his lover has gone into hiding.

It was reported that the catechist, identified as Oliver Vershima, took off from his hometown after he was caught with the corpse of the lady.

Residents of the community, who spoke on the matter revealed that the catechist was planning to dispose the body of the lady when he was caught on Saturday.

According to Daily Post, the deceased was attempting to abort pregnancy for the catechist which unfortunately lead to her death.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the corpse of the lady had been recovered and deposited at a morgue.

“The corpse of the young girl, who was said to have visited her man friend, was recovered and taken to the mortuary after a report was received but the said Oliver is yet to be seen as he brought the corpse out of his room and ran away,” Anene said.
