The Black Queens of Ghana suffered a 2-0 loss to the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations on Wednesday.

The match which went down at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onika Lagos, ignited the Falcons to victory as the team was visibly seen happy and ready for their next game.

In the Wednesday match, the Falcons took hold of possession. Uchenna Kanu netted twice. Her fist goal came at 22nd minutes of the game, assisted by Francisca Ordega to make a successful entry through the Black Queens defense.

Fast forward to 26nd minutes, Kanu made another successful goal through the assist from Toni Payne to crown the victory.

Interestingly, both teams went into the half-time interval with the Falcons fully in control. The Falcons side maintained their dominance in the second half, but could not add to their half-time double scores.

The current win is the 11th victory in 18 encounters the Falcons have recorded against their fierce rivals ahead of the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The winners of the tie will ball it out with the winners between Niger and Ivory Coast for a place in the 2022 AWCON in Morocco between July 2 and 23, 2022.
