Chelsea have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend. French defender Wesley Fofana, who scored the first goal in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League, picked up a suspected knee injury. The French defender will undergo a scan on Thursday to determine the extent of the problem.
“That’s the one disappointing thing about the evening,” Chelsea boss Graham Potter said.
“We need to scan tomorrow and fingers crossed. I wouldn’t want to speculate on it now. But we’re concerned and we just need to wait until tomorrow and get it scanned and hope for the best.
Chelsea, who are on a two-game winning streak, will be looking at extending their run when they face Wolves at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Ex-Chelsea striker, Diego Costa is expected to stage a return to the Bridge, leading the attack for Wolves against his former side.
