Court rejects Okoracha’s bid to stop property seizure

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday rejected an order of interim injunction sought by former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and the Imo State Government stopping them from confiscating his properties located in various parts of the country.
Okorocha had requested the court to issue a restraining order against the Imo State Government and EFCC from confiscating his properties located in various parts of the country.
Okorocha sought this order of the court to preserve his properties and investments pending the resolution of ongoing cases of corruption and misappropriation of funds.
The judge, Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed declined the order saying the court can not issue such order especially with the various challenges to the court jurisdiction and such matter will not be in the interest of justice.
