Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has awarded the procurement of security equipment for the new Government House and Governor’s Lodge.
According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the contract was awarded to Stansol Synergy Limited to supply and install security equipment in the newly constructed government house and governors lodge by Governor Charles Soludo, after three decades, where the state was without those facilities.
Governor Soludo has demonstrated that security is pivotal to his administration’s quest in making Anambra a crime-free state, where the people can invest, live without fear, work, play and enjoy.
This underscores the signing of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, which birthed the security system code-named Operation Udo Ga-Achi (Meaning Peace Shall Reign) launched in January to combat the rising crime rates for the safety of people in the state.
The Law also established the state security outfit called Agunechemba, designed to support existing law enforcement agencies in preventing crime.
The law has defined roles and responsibilities for security supervisory committees at various levels to oversee operations and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, as well as strict regulations against kidnapping, banditry, and illicit drug trade.
This includes the unlawful use of properties for criminal activities, clear mandates on landlords, property owners, and hospitality businesses to ensure due diligence in tenant and guest identification, offenses, and penalties to deter crime and enhance enforcement mechanisms, among others.
In pursuit of the fight against crime, many kidnappers have been arrested and hideouts demolished, with successful raids for criminals at Ozubulu, Isiagu, Oba, and Nnewi, among other places in Anambra. Also, criminals involved in the death of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North State Constituency I, have been apprehended.
The eight Local Government Areas, namely Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Ogbaru, which were under siege before the advent of Governor Soludo’s government, have also been freed by the security network.
With each step taken, and each partnership formed, Operation Udo Ga-Achi stands as a testament to resilience, solidarity, and the undying human spirit
