Students and staff members of Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State, who were kidnapped by bandits, have regained their freedom after seven months.
The students were reportedly kidnapped during a bandit attack raid in the Gusau area on February 2024, with many of the victims being female students who were forcefully taken from their off campus hostels in Sabin Gods village during the early hours of the morning.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, confirmed the release in a report via X on Monday. The report stated, “Abducted students of Federal University Gusau and staff regain freedom.”

While the exact circumstances surrounding their release remain unclear, Zagazola’s sources indicated that security forces played a pivotal role in securing the victims’ freedom.

Zagazola added, ”After spending an extended period in captivity, it has been confirmed that all the abducted individuals have returned in good health.”

The announcement of their freedom brings relief to families and the academic community who have been waiting for the safe return of their loved ones. This situation highlights the persistent security challenges in Zamfara state, but it also showcases the determination and efforts of authorities to recover those abducted.
